Community Involvement

Providence is proud to be actively involved in our local community. We do this through a number of forums. Additionally many of our consultants independently assist the FrontLine community in fund raising ventures and providing support to schools and sporting clubs.

FrontLine Yoga

Providence is pleased to be FrontLine Yoga’s first corporate sponsor.  We support FrontLine Yoga through business planning and mentoring and through providing teacher training sponsorship to enable further delivery of free yoga programs.

Frontline Yoga is a Not-for-Profit Organisation that delivers Trauma Aware Yoga to members of the community at the Frontline. Police, Paramedics, Firefighters, ADF members, Healthcare workers, SES/RFS and Surf Life Saver volunteers are all able to access free weekly Yoga classes. Our aim is to foster community and support networks, develop mental and physical strength, build resilience, a sense of peace and stillness as well as tools for self-regulation in order to optimise responses to occupational stress.

Snowy Hydro South Care Rescue Helicopter

Providence’s major sponsorship commitment is to the Snowy Hydro Southcare Helicopter. Snowy Hydro South Care began on 1 October 1998, as the primary provider of Aero-Medical and Rescue Helicopter services to people in the ACT and South-eastern NSW. Since that time, the Rescue Helicopter has completed over 4000 missions. The helicopter provides care through three main types of missions.

  • Primary missions; where highly trained crews fly directly to the scene of an accident and transport patient(s) as quickly as possible to hospital and further care.
  • Secondary missions; when patients are in need of urgent, specialised, medical services. The rescue helicopter transfers patients from regional areas to major hospitals that can provide the needed care.
  • The helicopter also conducts non-medical missions including search and rescue and assisting the Bushfire Service with aerial fire-fighting, like our participation in the 2003 bush fires as well as the Sydney to Hobart Yacht races.

While the helicopter is based in Symonston, Canberra, Snowy Hydro SouthCare’s primary service area extends east to the coast, south to the Victorian border, and west to Hay and north almost to Sydney. As Snowy Hydro SouthCare completes nearly two missions every day of the year, it is clear that this life-saving service is an important part of our community.

Chloe Hosking – International Cyclist

The Providence Management team also have a personal interest in supporting local athletes, sport and sporting organisations. Since 2009, Providence has been providing sponsorship to local cycling sensation, Chloe Hosking, as she embarks on her journey to represent Australia at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Chloe is well on the way to achieving this goal having already secured a professional contract with HTC-Highroad, winning a Bronze Medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and finishing 6th in a strong field at the 2011 World Championships. Chloe is a fantastic ambassador for both Canberra and Australian Cycling.

The Friendly Ride

Most people in Canberra would be familiar with Andy Friend (former Brumbies Coach) and his epic undertaking in riding from Cooktown to Canberra along the Bicentennial National Trail in an effort to raise money and awareness for further research into Acquired Brain Injuries. Andy’s wife, Kerri, is herself recovering from an acquired brain injury as a result of a mountain bike accident sustained in 2009. Andy, with support from Kerri, has ridden nearly 4700 km from Cooktown to Canberra. Along the way Andy has had many “mini adventures” but most importantly, the journey has helped Kerri tremendously with her recovery. We wish both Kerri and Andy all the very best for the future.
